CODE DE CONDUITE
Les Événements Danse Rétro (organization) is committed to providing a safe and inclusive environment during the Rendez-Vous Rétro Boréal (event).
This code of conduct recognizes each participant's right to safety and their responsibility to ensure the well-being of others during the event. We therefore encourage all participants to maintain a shared understanding of what is and is not acceptable throughout the event and on social media.
Respect
Participants in the event—including organizers, teachers, DJs, and volunteers—commit to respecting each individual’s gender expression, sexual orientation, origin, religion, nationality, age, physical ability, dance experience, and dance role.
To achieve this, they will respect others’ physical boundaries (such as personal space and on the dance floor), as well as emotional or personal boundaries, taking nonverbal cues into account.
Consent
To ensure a safe and enjoyable environment, we would like to remind everyone that it is necessary to obtain consent before initiating physical contact with another participant. Consent can be verbal, nonverbal, or both. Of course, if an invitation to dance is declined, respect the person’s choice without insisting.
Inappropriate behavior
Any harassment—whether verbal, emotional, physical, or sexual—is considered inappropriate behavior throughout the event, including on social media.
This includes offensive comments related (but not limited) to gender, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, or origin. Inappropriate behavior also includes bullying, harassment, disruption of workshops, inappropriate physical contact, and unsolicited sexual attention.
We reserve the right to take action depending on the situation, ranging from a verbal warning to permanent exclusion without refund in cases of unresolved inappropriate behavior.
Available ressources
During the event, we will have a Well-being Squad that is independent from the event’s main organization. Respect, kindness, mutual support, and empathy will be the squad’s top priorities.
Members of the squad will be visible, approachable, attentive, and committed to the well-being of every participant.
If you have a negative experience with another participant, we encourage you to speak directly with a member of the Well-being Squad. If a resolution isn’t possible, or if you feel uncomfortable speaking directly with the squad, you may seek help from an organizer, volunteer, or trusted participant.
We encourage anyone who experiences or witnesses inappropriate behavior to inform the Well-being Squad so that necessary measures can be taken to prevent future incidents.
