Creation of the “Grande Ourse" People's Choice Award trophy

 

This year, as part of the Mini-Showcases, Rétro Boréal is bringing back the Grande Ourse People's Choice Award!  And to make it even more special… we want the community to help us create the trophy! :D

Take part in the “Imagine the Trophy” contest!

Imagine and draw the Grande Ourse Favorite Award trophy.

Create a 2D design—on paper or digitally—inspired by the Boreal theme.

A simple, evocative design… and above all, something that can be made out of wood.

A few technical details :

• It should be designed either to stand on a base or to hang on a wall.

• Maximum size: 12 inches in height and width.

• Wood thickness: 1/4 inch.

• Natural wood color only (no paint) — so the shape and design will be key!

Evaluation criteria from the organizing jury :

• Originality

• Overall aesthetics

• Technical feasibility

• Relevance to the theme

The winner will receive:

• A full pass for Rétro Boréal 2026

• The chance to see their design come to life as the official "Grande Ourse" People's Choice Award trophy! Florent will take care of adapting and crafting the trophy using his CNC machine and other garage toys. ;)

• Submission deadline : November 26

• Winner announcement : December 1 — just before registration opens

But what is the Grande Ourse Award?

During Rétro Boréal, the “Grande Ourse Favorite Award” trophy will be given based on the public’s vote among the Mini-Showcases presented on Saturday evening.

Three “Star” mentions will also be awarded, and the duo receiving the most votes from the audience will win the fabulous Grande Ourse trophies!
